Ventura moms launch Web site for parents

Valerie Zeko and Lisa Goulette wanted to help local parents find resources quickly and easily, so six months ago they pooled their savings and launched the Web site VenturaParent.com.

In addition to locating local businesses and schools, parents can also find ongoing activities, special events, summer camps and parent tips. They can post questions to other parents on the Parent Chat page and buy and sell baby equipment or find baby sitters on the free Classifieds page. The site is free for parents, but certain sections are only available to parents who sign up to receive a monthly e-newsletter highlighting upcoming local events.

VenturaParent.com is modeled after sbparent.com, which was founded by Rachel Ross Steidl.
