Non Profit Wish List

Each month we post a wish list for a different organization in town. It is our hope that people in the community who see this list might be able to help meet these needs in some way. If you have a wish list you would like posted, please send us an email with your attached wish list. If everyone gives just a little, we can help others.

Please help!

Jeanette Orrantia is a student at Anacapa Middle School who is battling a rare form of bone cancer: Osteosarcoma.  After several previous surgeries on her right leg, Jeanette had to have her left leg amputated on January 18.  Her family desperately needs your help.

How to Help:

Donations can be payable to:  Ventura Education Partnership (V.E.P.)

The tax deductible donation (100%) goes directly to the Orrantia family. It will help pay the mortgage, household bills, and gas to and from Children's Hospital.  Her guardian (her aunt) is also in need of a car, as her car recently broke.

More Details:

Jeanette is a 6th grade student at Anacapa Middle School.
Her father was murdered 2 years ago and her mother has been out of the picture for a number of years. Jeanette and Johnny are being raised by their wonderful great aunt. ‘Auntie' Rosemary (Shorr) had to take 'catastrophic' leave from her job with the State (EDD) to be with Jeanette.

‘Jay' had cancer in her right leg 2 years ago. The doctors removed the knee joint and tibia and replaced it with a rod. In December, she was going to have that leg amputated above the knee and receive a prosthetic knee and lower leg. That way she would be able to bend her leg and play sports. Unfortunately, in December, Jeanette was in Children's Hospital for her pre-op and the doctors found a fast growing tumor. This time though, it was in her left leg. The leg was amputated on January 18th.
